EVALUATION OF ACTIVITY
|
Evaluation of the Learning Objectives
It’s important to prepare the volunteers to be sure of the quality of a service given under the library’s brand. The activity is important to the listeners who come regularly every week. The learning objectives are about including a group easily excluded from a common cultural asset and works well. Participants get freer in their own way of using their imagination. Volunteers get a much better understanding not only of the needs of intellectually disabled but also about their situation in society, their daily life and conditions where they live. This knowledge is transferred out in the community and serves the purpose of inclusion.
Evaluation of the activity
Other activities going on at the same time for the same target group may affect the number of participants. As an extra bonus, library staff has experienced a strengthened interest from staff working within institutions for intellectually disabled.
Evaluation of what was learned by the participants
The volunteers have learned to be more aware of how much the listeners really understand of the text. This awareness has pinpointed the importance of taking small breaks for coffee and discussions during the reading. The reading group has developed into also a social event.
Evaluation of what staff have learned
The importance of supporting the volunteers in a way that keeps up quality makes the organisation sustainable and the volunteers happy.
