  Summary/ Description of Activity
  The local autonomous activity center for seniors "Gnisten" revives "The Danish National treasure of songs and psalms"
  Learning objectives:
  Old Danish songs and psalms related to traditions and seasons of the year are revived, and anecdotes and traditions related to the songs are told. The participants hear the melodies and sing the songs and psalms. The activity creates joy, sharing of memories and knowledge of Danish songs and psalms, and promotes the community spirit among the seniors in the local community.

Marketing   In Gnisten's activity folder (published twice a year) The folder is distributed by mail to all seniors, and at the local library . Posters in local area and library. Published in the local newspaper's special section for seniors. Published 4 times a year
Method of delivery  Old Danish songs and psalms related to traditions and seasons of the year are revived , and anecdotes and traditions related to the songs are told by the tutor. The participants hear the melodies and sing the songs and psalms
Equipment required  Piano+ player ( or another instrument )
Other Factors  It is nessecary to have an introducer with knowledge of the subject

EVALUATION OF ACTIVITY
  Evaluation of the Learning Objectives
  Great success. Some participants have been inspired to join in groups and sing at homes for retired people, at Roskilde hospice etc. The hospice often ask the groups to come and sing

  Always very well visited - members come year after year - the activity has been ongoing for more than 20 years

  New knowledge of national songs and psalms and revival of own memories and hidden knowledge
  Evaluation of what staff have learned
  The local library has adapted the idea: A speciel song event is held regulary each autumn at the library. The events are fully booked - max. 50 persons allowed - more would have liked to be there. Participants listened and all participated in the singing and shared memories as well

  The size of the activity center is perfect - for 20-25 people. A bigger room and more participants might decrease the confidence created
