  Introduction to three Danish and one US databases with access to parish registers and censuses. Introduction to possibilities of finding parish registers and/or censuses via Google
  Learning objectives:
  Beginners in genealogy research are introduced to finding and using data from parish registers and/or censuses on the internet.

EVALUATION OF ACTIVITY
  Evaluation of the Learning Objectives
  The participants learned to use the databases, enabling them to search for information regarding genealogy themselves
  Evaluation of the activity
  12 citizens had signed up – 10 participated. One of the databases requires a login name, which can be obtained by a free sign up to the database – this presented some difficulties

  The participants familiarized themselves with the databases
  Evaluation of what staff have learned
  It is an advantage to alternate between demonstration of databases and participants doing assignments

  In case tutoring cannot be performed by PC and projector, overhead projectors and white board can be used

  The tutor should be an experienced searcher on the internet and familiar with databases as such.Internet searching knowledge is valuable for trained genealogists. They might not have obtained the skills necessary for using the internet or databases
