  Explaining how SMS and MMS technologies can be used for communication purposes and for making photos and videos.
  Learning objectives:
  Enable seniors to use SMS independently. Learning about telco mobile operators. Learning how to make a contract and choosing the best deal.

Equipment required  Participants should bring their own mobile phones. However spare mobile phones provided by the local retailed shop.
Other Factors  The mobile phone coverage. Check the mobile phone coverage on the area (GPRS 3G) before de session.

EVALUATION OF ACTIVITY
  Evaluation of the Learning Objectives
  Every participant sent SMS/MMS message to at least 2 other people in the group. Used at least one other mobile service provider. Usability and functionality of the different mobile devices and service provider (Vodafone, Movistar, Orange)
  Evaluation of the activity
  Went well some seniors experienced interface problems, vision problems, understand the SMS technique because phones have their differences.
  Evaluation of what was learned by the participants
  All sent SMS/MMS messages to others in-group. All learn the differences between SMS and MMS. All learn the differences between GPRS and 3G. All learn the functionality of the different mobile devices i.g. touch screen devices or menu based applications.
  Evaluation of what staff have learned
  Since participants where carrying different kind of mobiles phones the staff suggested the need of addressing the phones operating systems, such as Symbian, Windows Mobile and Apple iPhone and make comparative sessions of use.

ANALYSIS OF EVALUATION
  What would you change to improve activity?
  Use the whiteboard with an interactive touch screen phone working as simulator to see the different way of creating and sending messages.
  What particular circumstance could affect a change in the activity?
  The network coverage, some areas are in shadow.

  Develop an in house activity for example in San Valentin day “text love messages”

  New phones models simplifying the interfaces but adding more functionality that could complicate in some cases the use for seniors.
